Welcome back to Episode 2 of my Summer Dinner Party Series! Yesterday on Instagram we launched a new series inspired by my local farmers market. Today, were making a refreshing and hydrating mocktail recipe that can be made in the blender! This Watermelon Lime Mocktail is keeping things easy yet flavorful, so you can impress without the stress.
What is a mocktail versus a cocktail?
If you've been around for a while, then you'll know I love making mocktail recipes!
A mocktail is a nonalcoholic drink that is made similarly to cocktails but without the alcohol! The biggest difference is that the alcohol is replaced with club soda, soda, or any other carbonated water-based liquids.
You can still make and enjoy all those delicious cocktail syrups without any reprecussions the next day ;)
How to make a Watermelon Lime Mocktail?
Carefully slice the watermelon in half then in quarters to make it easier to remove the outer rind. Add the watermelon to a food processor or high speed blender.
Add the fresh mint leaves, honey, and lime juice to the blender. Pulse until smooth. Adjust to taste with a pinch of fine sea salt and the honey.
Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve and pour into a glass jar for serving.
To serve, rub the rim of a cocktail glass against a lime wedge. Roll in tajin.
Fill the glass with ice cubes.
Working with a 1-1 ratio of the watermelon lime syrup to club soda, pour over the ice cubes.
Garnish with a small slice of watermelon and fresh mint to enjoy!
3 TIPS on how to pick the perfect watermelon every time:
Dark, dull colors and natural webbing
A big dark yellow-brownish spot that means it's been ripening on the vine
Flick or knock lightly against the watermelon - it should sound hollow!
Can the Watermelon Lime Mocktail be made vegan?
Yes, you would simply replace the honey for maple syrup.
Now, it’s time to grab our aprons and begin baking deliciousness! ’till next time! xxL
