Traditionally, simple syrups are a 1 to 1 ratio of sugar and water that is boiled to slight caramelization. Think about when you go to Starbucks and order a caramel macchiato... you're typically going to have 1-2 pumps of a caramel simple syrup!
You can use homemade simple syrups for ice cream toppings, coffees, cocktails and cocktails, lemonades, etc.
Store homemade simple syrups in a glass jar with lid in the fridge, such as reusable mason jars. You can also store them in airtight food containers, if you don't have any glass jars.
Homemade simple syrups that are properly stored in the fridge will last up to 1 week!
