Easy Baked Salmon + Mango Salsa

·

If I told you we have this every week, would you believe me? Our Easy Baked Salmon + Mango Salsa is ridiculously easy to make, deliciously satisfying, and packed with nutrition!

What are the health benefits of Salmon?

The majority of salmon's health benefits are sourced from wild salmon, as we explain more on why below...

  1. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids
  2. Excellent source of protein
  3. High in B Vitamins (B12, Niacin, B6, Riboflavin, etc.)
  4. Great source of potassium (which helps blood pressure)
  5. Loaded with selenium (protects bone health, decreases thyroid antibodies, and may reduce risk of cancer)
  6. May reduce risk of heart disease
  7. May help with weight management

Is Wild Salmon or Farm-Raised Salmon healthier for you?

Salmon is loaded with health benefits, but they can also vary depending on the type of salmon you pick. Hate to break it to you, but not all salmon is equal. I know, this one hit home for me too. 😫

Wild Salmon

  • caught in natural environments such as oceans, rivers, and lakes
  • 22g Protein
  • 5g Fat (8% DV)
  • 39mg Calcium (4% DV)
  • 1mg Iron (6% DV)
  • 99mg Cholesterol (33% DV)
  • Higher amounts of natural minerals

Farm-Raised Salmon

  • Breeded at fish farms through a process known as aquaculture
  • 23g Protein
  • 15g Fat (19% DV) - mainly from omega 6s which can drive increased inflammation and may play a role in increasing chronic conditions, such as heart disease (but usually is too low to cause much concern)
  • 10mg Calcium (1% DV)
  • 0.3mg Iron (2% DV)
  • 60mg Cholesterol (20% DV)

How to bake Salmon?

Now, on to the answer you've all been waiting for...

Grilled Salmon and Pan-fried Salmon are great, but a little too messy on those days I just want a tasty meal without the hassle, you feel?

  1. Preheat oven to 450F.

  3. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness (usually 12 minutes is perfect for me).
  4. Broil 2-3 minutes.
  5. Enjoy immediately!
