What is Batistini Farms?

Batistini Farms is a family-operated and owned company (aka my family's business hehe). My parents love working closely with our small family farmers in the countrysides of Italy (that have become close friends over the years). They offer award-winning extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegars, ancient Tuscan grain pastas, herbs, Cerignola olives, and more! Rooted in family to produce high quality Italian products!

What makes their 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oils different?

Every single olive oil is handcrafted from fresh organic olives and cold extracted within 24 hours of harvest. The olives are grown in rich soil, sustainable farming practices, and pruning techniques that yield thriving terroir from their family estate olive grove.

The difference? It is the most fresh olive oil you'll ever taste! They provide a dark bottle to keep the olive oil from spoiling and a harvest date to keep you informed that you have the most recent olive oil harvest!

In every bottle of Batistini Farms' olive oil, you'll be able to explore the fruitiness, green leaves, almonds, herbs, etc. with a bittersweet tingling piquant finish that is signature to a true, authentic 100% extra virgin olive oil.

Where can I find Batistini Farms?

You can shop online at www.b-farms.com, or click here, to shop all their products. They also have a limited selection of the 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars available in Whole Foods Market across the East Coast!

What is phyllo dough?

Filo or phyllo is a very thin unleavened dough that is used for making a variety of Middle Eastern and Balkan pastries such as baklava and börek. Filo-based pastries are made by layering many sheets of filo brushed with olive oil or butter. Once baked, the result is an extremely flaky crust that taste incredible with both savory and sweet appetizers.

Can they be made ahead for holiday appetizers?

Yes, these flaky chili honey feta rolls can be made ahead of time.

TIP: Make the feta rolls, but do NOT bake. Place them in a single layer on a sheet tray to freeze for 2 hours, then place in a freezer safe bag. Store in the freezer and bake when needed (without thawing) for a quick hors d’oeuvre!

Now, it’s time to grab our aprons and begin baking deliciousness! ’till next time! xxL

Flaky Chili Honey Feta Rolls Appetizer

They’re crispy, flaky, rich, creamy, and dipped in a Chili Honey Sauce for even more flavor 🍯🍁🌿

Servings: 14-18

For the Feta Rolls:

  • 14-16 Frozen Sheet Phyllo Dough (Thawed)
  • 8 oz Feta Cheese, crumbled
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 2 sprigs of Fresh Thyme Leaves
  • 1/4 tsp each: Salt & Black Pepper
  • 1/4 cup Batistini Farms Aromatic Herb Olive Oil

For the Sauce:

  • 5 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tbsp Batistini Farms Aromatic Herb Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Chili Pepper Flakes
  • 1 sprig of Thyme Leaves

For the Feta Rolls:

  1. Preheat oven to 425F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the crumbled feta, honey, thyme leaves, salt, black pepper, and minced garlic. Set aside.
  3. Place the olive oil in a small bowl.
  4. Gently brush half of one phyllo sheet with olive oil. Carefully fold over the non-brushed side so it’s now in half.
  5. With scissors or a knife, cut the folded sheet in half lengthwise.
  6. On the short end, add 1 tablespoon of feta.
  7. Brush the sides and fold them in. Brush the outside of those folded sides and begin to roll like a burrito. [SEE VIDEO FOR VISUAL GUIDE.]
  8. Brush all the feta rolls once more with olive oil and add flaky salt. Place on prepared pan.
  9. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown.

For the Sauce:

  1. Combine all ingredients together in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Bring to a boil then simmer 5 minutes.
  2. Cool to room temperature before serving with baked feta rolls. Enjoy!
