  4. Enjoy with the warm churros!

Troubleshooting / TIPS for Making Bunny Churros:

  • Use small cut-outs of parchment paper to pipe on thebunny churros on prior to adding the oil. Place the entire sheet of parchment into the oil, then use tongs to remove the parchment as it'll naturally slip off within 10 seconds.
  • Pinch the ears to the face. When you pipe on the ovals next to the circle to represent the bunny ears, you really want to pinch the ends into the circle or they may fall off during frying.
  • Let the fried churros rest for 30 seconds to 1 minute prior to rolling in the sugar. Use a slotted spoon or spatula to remove the churros from the hot oil and place on a parchment paper lined plate or wire rack to rest for a very short time - enough so that the dough can slightly harden and help the bunny ears to stay intact. Then roll on the cinnamon sugar mixture!

Can Churros be Made in Advance?

If you plan to make these churros in advance, prep the dough and pipe the churros onto parchment paper. Freeze the piped churros on a sheet pan until solid (about 1-2 hours) then stack in a freezer-safe container with parchment in between each layer. Store in the freezer up to 1 month. Following same frying instrctons when ready to serve (no thawing necessary!).

  3. Combine the water, ¼ cup sugar, salt, and the butter in a small saucepan. Place over medium high heat, bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  4. Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  5. Transfer the dough to a sturdy pastry bag with a medium star tip.
  6. Using small cut-out pieces of parchment paper, pipe a large circle, then two connecting ovals to mimic a bunny’s face and ears. Pinch the “ears” into the circle to help them stick.
