Looking for a last-minute Super Bowl and/or Valentine's Day appetizer recipe? Well, these Creamy Ricotta, Honey Basil, & Bacon Puff Pastries made with Dufour's Puff Pastry will definitely be a crowd pleaser!
If there is one thing that I would prefer not to make from scratch, it's puff pastry. While it's DELICIOUS, I just don't seem to have the patience to make it by hand. With that said, I set out years ago to find my go-to puff pastry at my local market and I am beyond excited to be partnered with them today on this appetizer recipe!
Dufour Puff Pastry dough is made with care and love by first enclosing a "butter block" in the dough, which is then folded and rolled out numerous times to create hundreds of alternating thin layers of pastry and butter. Puff Pastry expands when baked, rising to about 8-times its original height; so a quarter-inch. (source: link)
It's almost too simple! You simply let it thaw for 2-3 hours, then unwrap the puff pastry roll to cut into your individual pastries. The filling is all approximate, so no stress in the making. Easy, delicious, satisfying.
You can read more about them here. I usually purchase their products at my local Whole Foods Market!
Now, let's grab our aprons and begin baking deliciousness!
