Let me put you on to the pasta sauce of the summer 🍝 This Roasted Red Pepper Pasta Sauce paired beautifully with gnocchi, pasta (duh 😉), stuffed zucchini boats, and even as a homemade pizza sauce! 🍕🌿

How to make the pasta sauce creamier? How to thin out the pasta sauce?

  • Creamier: Add heavy cream one tablespoon at a time until deserved taste. Adjust with salt and black pepper.
  • Thinner Pasta Sauce: Heat up the sauce over medium heat, adding vegetable stock one tablespoon at a time until deserved texture. Adjust salt and black pepper to taste.

How to make it a homemade pizza sauce?

  • Add no heavy cream or vegetable stock! You want the sauce to be all natural and thick like traditional pizza sauce ;)

(Quick & Easy) Roasted Red Pepper Pasta Sauce

Ingredients

Servings: 4

  • 2 Red Bell Peppers, sliced into thick pieces
  • 1/2 Sweet Onion
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • Handful of Fresh Basil
  • (optional) Juice & Zest of 1 Lemon
  • (optional) Heavy Cream, for a creamier pasta sauce
  • Salt & Black Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or oven to 450F. 
  2. In a large bowl, toss the garlic cloves, sweet onion, and bell pepper with one tablespoon olive oil. Season with salt and black pepper. 
  3. Roast for 10 minutes or grill until all sides are slightly charcoaled. 
  4. Add all ingredients, including teaming olive oil, to a high speed blender. Pulse until smooth and creamy. Adjust taste with salt and black pepper. 
  5. TIPS: You can also add a little heavy cream for a creamier sauce, or a little reserved pasta water to thin out the sauce.
