How to Make the BEST Grilled Salmon:

  1. Preheat the grill to 450F, or medium high heat.
  2. In a bowl, add the zest of the two lemons, chopped herbs, minced garlic, and softened butter. Mix well. Set aside.
  3. Thinly slice the lemons, then add in a single layer on the cedar plank(s).
  4. Add the thawed salmon fillets on top. Season generously with salt and black pepper.
  5. Place on the grill, cover with the grill lid, and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Brush the herby lemon butter on top of the salmon fillets, then cover to cook an additional 8-10 minutes, until flaky. Enjoy warm with lemon wedges!

TIPS for Grilling Salmon Fillets:

  • Use lemon slices! This not only adds great flavor, but will keep your salmon from sticking to the grill racks and cedar planks.
  • Preheat the grill. Give yourself 10-20 minutes for the grill to heat up and be hot enough to cook the salmon properly.
    • If your grill does not have a temperature gauge on the lid, I recommend placing your hand 3-4 inches OVER the grates (not on them) and if you're able to hold it there for a max of 3 solid seconds, thenit's ready for cooking.
  • Grill the salmon at 450F - 500F. If the grill is not hot enough, it could either overcook or undercook the salmon.
  • Oil the fish, not the grill racks. Again, this adds great flavor and helps the fish to naturally not stick to any grates.

What to Serve with Grilled Salmon:

  • Chopped Kale Salad
  • Burrata, Cherries, & Cantaloupe Salad (with drizzle of balsamic and olive oil)
  • Crispy Potato Wedges
  • Shaved Brussel Sprouts Salad
  • Potato Salad
  • Sugar Snap Pea Salad
  • Grilled Asparagus
  • Grilled Corn
  • Sautéed Squash and Zucchini
  • Zucchini Gratin

...the side dish possibilities are limitless!!

How to Prep Grilled Salmon in Advance:

Salmon makes a great meal prep for 1-2 days when you store the cooked fillets in an airtight container in the fridge after it's cooled at room temperature for 5-10 minutes. If trying to prep in advance for dinner, you can (1) prep the herby butter in advance, placing at room temperature at least 30 minutes prior to cooking, (2) prep the salmon on the cedar planks and wrap in plastic to store in the fridge until ready to grill.
